Over the past 2 years I’ve gotten really into customizing my clothes. I have a lot of clothes that I’ve gotten over the years, and when I notice that I don’t wear something a lot I try not to just let it sit in my closet. I’ll either customize it with patches or by cutting it up somehow, or sell it. These are some projects that I’ve finished within the past month!

The pair of pants that I added patches and paint splatters to (August 2024)

This is a pair of pants that I just finished yesterday. I got them for $1 at a flea market and was super excited to finally have a pair of black pants to wear (current other ones I have are a brown-ish black color), but I didn’t realize until I brought them home that they had holes in unfortunate spots (the crotch and the back). I added some patches to cover the holes and then to make them look less out of place I added a few more. And I also added the paint and bleach splatters!

This one is pretty simple! I wanted to get a Pierce the Veil shirt since I’m seeing them in December, I bought one on Depop but I hated how it fit me. Instead of just re-selling the shirt, I took the design from the old shirt and put it on a new one. The green shirt I got at a thrift store a few years ago and I’ve only worn it under other shirts, so I think now I’m a lot more likely to wear it just by itself.

The shirt that I added another shirt to (July 2024)

The shorts that I cut up and added patches to (July 2024)

Okay here’s the last one! This used to be a pair of light grey pants, but I’ve had them for years and they were way too small on me. To fix that I cut them into shorts and made them bigger along the sides. Then I dyed them black, and I added patches along the sides so they wouldn’t fall apart (my machine sewing skills are insanely terrible).

Then I forgot about them for a year, I came back to these recently to add all the band patches. They’re not technically “done”, but they’re at the point where I can wear them again!
